Janak Poudel is a dedicated and compassionate Consultant Neuro-Optometrist with advanced expertise in comprehensive vision care, neuro-optometry, and genetic counselling in eye health. He holds a Master of Optometry (M.Optom) and currently serves as a Lecturer at Pokhara University, contributing to academic excellence and the advancement of optometric education in Nepal.

Recognized as Nepal’s first optometrist to practice genetic counselling in eye care, Janak has pioneered the integration of genetics into clinical optometric practice. His work focuses on the counselling, risk assessment, and patient education of inherited ocular diseases, promoting early diagnosis, family screening, and long-term visual rehabilitation planning.

With a special interest in neuro-optometry, he specializes in the assessment and management of visual dysfunctions associated with neurological conditions, binocular vision anomalies, and functional visual disorders. His patient-centred approach, combined with evidence-based clinical care, enables him to provide personalized management plans tailored to each individual’s visual needs.

Over the years, Janak has conducted extensive comprehensive eye examinations and managed a wide range of ocular and neuro-visual conditions through optical correction, preventive eye care, vision therapy approaches, and multidisciplinary referrals when required. He is highly regarded for his ethical practice, empathetic communication, and commitment to quality patient care.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Janak remains actively involved in academic teaching, professional development, and the advancement of specialized optometric services in Nepal. Through innovation, education, and genetics-informed vision care, he continues to contribute significantly to improving patients’ quality of life at Metro Eye Care.
